Parents to a Higher Standard
I have always been amazed when parents Lament a lack of respect from their kids, Without stopping to examine how they Model respect to their kids.
I have always been surprised when parents Complain about their kids being self-centered, Without understanding how they have Over focused on their children.
I have always shaken my head when parents Describe their kids as demanding, Without recognizing their pattern of Overindulging them.
I have always been disappointed when parents Remark on the flaws in their kids, Without first looking at themselves And owning theirs.
I have always been puzzled when parents Criticize their kids for being immature Without reviewing whether they Have held them accountable.
I have always been blown away when parents Expect their kids to change bad behavior When they are unwilling To change themselves.
